The 167th Founder’s Day of Lovedale Lawrence School was celebrated in Ooty, where IT Minister and alumnus Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan urged students to pursue higher studies with discipline and adapt to technological advancements for future growth.

As the iconic Lawrence School at Lovedale, near here, a historic boarding institution, celebrated its 167th founder’s day, Minister for Information Technology, Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, an alumnus of the school, asked the students to plan well to pursue higher studies, career development to achieve laurels in life, besides developing a strong character.

Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, who was the chief guest on the occasion and inspected the ceremonial trooping the colour event, in his address, said it was a proud moment to be the chief guest in the school where he studied.

The trooping the colour event and other events held during the three-day celebrations showcased the disciplined approach apart from exhibiting the talent and skill of the students. It symbolises a good educational institution.

For Lawrence School here, it was an exhilarating and astounding journey over the past 167 years that itself speaks volumes about how legendary this institution is. The standard, education and the discipline which Lawrence School imparts to its students is reflected by the huge number of its alumni who took up high-profile jobs in many countries across the world, besides making a mark in the country. This is the greatness of Lawrence School.

Touching on technological development, he said today’s youth are living in a tech-driven world. It is important to learn the concept and theme behind technological development, advancement to improve and update oneself. The real development is about how one grasps concepts and working modules of the technological advancements to bring the fruits of development to society.

Saying that change is inevitable in the developing and changing world, he said students should learn to adapt to it. One should constantly upgrade himself/herself on the happenings around the world, economy, inflation, employment opportunities, new opportunities to plan well to pursue higher education and a career to achieve laurels in life.

 

“Choose your own path for career and development to bring results,” he advised, and added that the students should be amicable, kind, polite and humane to live a meaningful life.
